Physician Luke Guide Us To A Model Of Kingdom Healthcare--- The Gospel Of Luke

Robert Doe, MD

The gospel of Luke, written by a physician, guides us in the supernatural way of healing that was common in the early church. Western medicine has moved, in the last 100 years, away from a "priestly" model of function for healthcare professionals into a more scientific and business role. Mission medicine, such as was described by Dr. Daniel Fountain, incorporates the gospel of the kingdom in effective ways. We will explore models of integration of Body, Soul and Spirit care into our current practice of medicine. The specific experience of our Urgent and Primary Care clinic in Kona Hawaii, done in conjunction with YWAM Kona, will illustrate several approaches and possibilities.

Healing Moral Injuries in Medical and Behavioral Providers and Staff

CME Accredited

Jesse Malott, PsyD

The pandemic has brought to light the moral and spiritual challenges that healthcare professionals undergo in environments where resources and time is limited but the stakes are high. Studies show that healthcare workers are the group at highest risk of burnout and leaving their profession at a time when there are already far too few in these critical areas. This session will focus on defining the systemic and professional challenges and provide a roadmap for improving the well-being of healthcare professionals through systemic and practical changes.

Practical Art of Spiritual Conversation: Learning the WHENS of evangelism and the HOWS of discipleship

James Shultz, MDiv, DMin

Christians can be so concerned with how to share the gospel that they often fail to consider where the person is spiritually and when, or even if, they should share the gospel. Refined through tens of thousands of spiritual encounters, this session offers a framework for discerning where a person is spiritually and how to encourage each person to take a step toward Christ regardless of where they may presently be in their faith journey.

Healing Prayer and Medical Care

Natalie Richard, MHA, BSN, RN

I am the Lord who heals you (Ex.15:26). Healing prayer provides faith benefits that enhance medical healing results. This way of treating encompasses whole person care, body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, healing prayer should not focus solely on bodily healing but integrate targeted prayers concerning root causes, which exacerbate medical illness, in addition to praying over the mind and spirit. This session will include cases and personal experiences related to my nursing career and being part of a healing prayer team. This session will also provide strategies for healing prayer that draw people to healing and to the heart of God.

Toward a Manna Society

Jeremy Crider, MD

God was and is liberating a people and establishing shalom among them. Health, as it is seen in the Biblical narrative, is a communal property, including the idea that our wellness is affected by the wellness of “our neighbor”. However, our notion of health - especially in medical professions - is typically reductionistic, leading to phenomena such as extreme life expectancy gaps in our communities. What is our role in oppressed and marginalized communities? How are we joyful co-creators of the manna society God is creating? Join us as we trace this narrative and reflect on true health and our role in it today.

That's Me in the Corner, That's Me in the Spotlight, Losing My Religion

Rick Donlon, MD

Maintaining a vital and fruitful Christian faith is challenging in the best of circumstances. The pressures of professional school, residency training, and busy clinical work make it harder to remain connected to The Vine. Even some of our Christian healthcare organizations struggle to resist the pressure from secular and economic powers. How can we avoid losing our religion?
