Physician Luke Guide Us To A Model Of Kingdom Healthcare--- The Gospel Of Luke

Robert Doe, MD

The gospel of Luke, written by a physician, guides us in the supernatural way of healing that was common in the early church. Western medicine has moved, in the last 100 years, away from a "priestly" model of function for healthcare professionals into a more scientific and business role. Mission medicine, such as was described by Dr. Daniel Fountain, incorporates the gospel of the kingdom in effective ways. We will explore models of integration of Body, Soul and Spirit care into our current practice of medicine. The specific experience of our Urgent and Primary Care clinic in Kona Hawaii, done in conjunction with YWAM Kona, will illustrate several approaches and possibilities.

Trauma Informed Integrated Care

Diana Moser-Burg, PhD

The integration of trauma knowledge into practice is often a challenge in the human services field, and with the lack of integrated care options, there's even less models of this high quality care. This workshop will focus on how to provide trauma informed best practice in an integrated care setting on a non-profit budget. Creating a healing environment that is culturally sensitive will be addressed and tools provided to support more culturally relevant care. Co-Presenter Kyle Ferlic

Healing Prayer and Medical Care

Natalie Richard, MHA, BSN, RN

I am the Lord who heals you (Ex.15:26). Healing prayer provides faith benefits that enhance medical healing results. This way of treating encompasses whole person care, body, mind, and spirit. Therefore, healing prayer should not focus solely on bodily healing but integrate targeted prayers concerning root causes, which exacerbate medical illness, in addition to praying over the mind and spirit. This session will include cases and personal experiences related to my nursing career and being part of a healing prayer team. This session will also provide strategies for healing prayer that draw people to healing and to the heart of God.

Toward a Manna Society

Jeremy Crider, MD

God was and is liberating a people and establishing shalom among them. Health, as it is seen in the Biblical narrative, is a communal property, including the idea that our wellness is affected by the wellness of “our neighbor”. However, our notion of health - especially in medical professions - is typically reductionistic, leading to phenomena such as extreme life expectancy gaps in our communities. What is our role in oppressed and marginalized communities? How are we joyful co-creators of the manna society God is creating? Join us as we trace this narrative and reflect on true health and our role in it today.

I'm Not a Behavioral Health Provider, But My High-Risk Patient Needs One! Effective Strategies for Conducting Risk Assessments and Crisis Stabilization in Primary Care.

CME Accredited

Casey Clardy, PhD, MDiv

Research trends demonstrate that as many as 26% of primary care patients experience passive suicidal ideation and up to 15% experience active suicidal ideation. Studies show that approximately 77% of individuals who die by suicide have a health care visit within the year prior to death. How many of those patients interacted with clinical staff who felt as though they had the requisite time, knowledge, skill, confidence, training, or resources to adequately assess and treat their patients presenting with high risk mental health complexity? In this interactive workshop, we will review how to conduct a suicidal/homicidal risk assessment within a brief primary care visit. Practical strategies and tools will be provided using case examples and evidenced-based practices to increase the knowledge and confidence of clinical staff in primary care risk assessment and intervention.
