Trauma and adverse childhood experiences are both causes and effects of addictive behaviors. We, as health professionals, stand in a unique position to not only better understand and serve addicts in our communities, but also to assist in breaking generational behaviors. This session will explore the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on substance use disorder. Participants will be informed about the ACE study, trauma informed care, and ways faith-based solutions can be leveraged to assist individuals dealing with these issues.
