Doing Medicine, Becoming Community

Liz Redican, DO with Emily Burton RN

Room 8

Why is burnout so prevalent in the medical community? Is medicine getting harder or are we less resilient? Is the answer “self-care”, more vacations, changing jobs? Does Christ's promise of abundant life include medical school or serving endless needs of patients at an understaffed clinic? This session explores how transparency, confession and humility bring freedom and life by allowing us to rest in God's strength. These are essential for authentic community, where we no longer try to prove ourselves to each other, but rather proclaim God's goodness together. The result is contentment in all aspects of our lives, including our work.
