Firearms and Community Violence...What Does That Have to Do with Us?

Dave Chen, MD MPH

Room 4

Gun and community violence exposure are traditionally thought of within the domain of public safety. Recent innovations show that healthcare systems and community organizations can significantly impact harm reduction. Whereas violence can be thought of as a "contagion," CCHF communities have unique skills, resources, and opportunities for implementing effective, evidence-based treatment & prevention programs. This workshop will review Violence Interruption & Hospital Violence Intervention Programs and explore how a Christocentric hermeneutic interprets their efficacy, and will propose opportunities for healthcare delivery innovation.
